Sunbelt Software Announces Top Ten Spyware Threats for September
Sunbelt Software, a leading provider of Windows security software, today announced the top ten most prevalent spyware and malware threats for the month of September. The report, compiled from monthly scans performed by Sunbelt’s award-winning antispyware tool, CounterSpy(TM), is a service of the Sunbelt Software Threat Research Center.
The results represent the number of times a particular spyware infection was detected during CounterSpy scans that report back to ThreatNet(TM), Sunbelt’s community of opt-in users of CounterSpy. The Trojan.NewMediaCodec threat appears for the first time in the top ten lists and is a program that purports to be a needed upgrade to Windows Media Player in order to view adult-oriented videos on certain websites.
